COURTESY VISIT TO THE AGENCY BY THE DIRECTOR GENERAL, NATIONAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY (NEMA)

The Directior General, National Emergency Management Agency Alhaji Mustapha Habib Ahmed on the 31st August 2021 paid a courtesy visit to the agency. The meeting started at about 11am with the second stanza of the National Anthem.
The Director General Engr clement Nze in his opening remark, welcomed all that were in attendance. He appreciated NEMA on its collaboration with NIHSA, and on the August occasion of their very first courtesy visit to the agency, noting that both agencies are working together for the Government and for the security of the Nation. He also recognized the vital role played by NEMA in the GIS unit of the agency adding that NEMA was the first collaborating agency to financially assist Nihsa by donating 3 equipments, one in federal university kashere Gombe, Nasarawa, and Ado Ekiti.

Furthermore, he said the visit will go a along way to cement the relationship between the two agencies.
The Directior General National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Alhaji Mustapha Habib Ahmed, speaking at the meeting said Nigeria in recent times is confronted with banditry, kidnapping and incessant communal conflicts and these has posed a daunting task for NEMA. He also said the protracted Boko Haram incidence in the north, Natural disasters, especially flood, windstorm, marine and gully erosion which are caused by climate change has also posed a great challenge. Ahmed noted that his visit to Nihsa marks the beginning of series of activities to mitigate the impact of anticipated flood and to provide assistance to affected persons as the rainy season sets in across Nigeria. He appreciated the Director General, Engr Clement Nze and the entire management staff of Nihsa for the warm reception and said he looks forward to a new vista for effective disaster risk management in Nigeria.The vote of thanks was given by Mr Femi Bejide, Director Operational Hydrology.
