Sunday Ushe HUSSAINI
Mr. Sunday Ushe HUSSAINI, was born on the 6th of June, 1972. He is from Ushe, Dabai District of Zuru Local Government Area of Kebbi State. He attended Kirho Primary School, Tungan Magajiya from 1979-1984. Mr.Hussaini proceeded to Government Science College, Zuru and subsequently to Nagarta College, Sokoto where he obtained his Senior Secondary School Certificate in 1990. The quest for a degree certificate made him enrol for a graduate programme in 1992 at the Federal, University of Technology, Minna and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Geology in 1998.
Mr. Hussaini proceeded and completed his one-year National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) Programme between 1999 and 2000 and was offered an appointment by the Federal Civil Service Commission, Abuja, in 2001 as Hydrogeologist II. He was posted to the Department of Hydrology and Hydrogeology, Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Abuja where he rose through the ranks and attained the position of an Assistant Chief Hydrogeologist in the Ministry in 2012.
Mr. Hussaini transferred his service from the Federal Ministry of Water Resources to Nigeria Hydrological Services, Agency (NIHSA) in 2014. While serving in NIHSA, Mr. Hussaini proceeded to Federal University of Technology, Minna for a postgraduate programme and obtained a Master of Technology Degree in Hydrogeology in 2023.
In the 24 years of his career in the water sector, Mr. Hussaini has been extensively involved in ground and surface water resources assessment, exploration and development projects; Application of nuclear techniques in water resources assessment and management; Water quality assessment and monitoring; Monitoring and management of transboundary aquifer systems; Groundwater modelling; Procurement and SERVICOM activities.
Mr. Hussaini has attended several local and international professional training courses in Europe, North America, Asia and Africa. He belongs to many professional bodies such as-
- Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS)
- Nigerian Association of Hydrogeologists (NAH)
- Nigerian Association of Hydrological Sciences (NAHS)
- International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH)
Mr. Hussaini is a Fellow of the Nigerian Association of Hydrogeologists (FNAH), Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants (FIMC) and also a Certified Management Consultant (CMC). He has authored and coauthored several papers published on local and international journals. He is happily married and likes playing football, table tennis, reading, travelling, current affairs and history.
