The Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency NIHSA) in collaboration with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Vienna- Austria, is organizing a two (2) day IWAVE Stakeholders Workshop to develop a National Hydrological Framework for the  implementation of the Technical Cooperation Project-“Adding Groundwater Dimension to the Understanding and Management of Shared Water Resources in the Sahel Region”RAF7019.

The workshop is scheduled to hold at the Rock View Hotels, Wuse II, Abuja, Nigeria from 24th -25th  January, 2019.  The Honourable Minister of Water Resources, Engr. Suleiman H. Adamu, FNSE, FNAH, will deliver the Keynote Address and declare the workshop opened on 24th January, 2019.

The Workshop is a follow-up to the stakeholders and consultative workshop earlier held in July, 2018 where participants adopted IWAVE methodology as a process (data gap analysis and stakeholder’s consultation, development of an ideal strategy for groundwater management and identification of essential technical capacities as an investment) in the implementation of the project in the Nigerian sector of the Chad and Iullemeden basins.

The overall objective of IWAVE Methodology is to increase water availability through enhance national capacity to comprehensively conduct water resources assessment through application of isotope hydrology techniques .
